dan in real life

I now have a new favorite movie. Dan in Real Life was hilarious. It was slightly refreshing to see Steve Carrell in a role where he does not play a man lacking all self-awareness, although there were a few "Michael Scott" moments. Carrell is definitely the king of awkward. Nobody does it better. The scene at the dinner table when Dan recounts all of his brother's old girlfriends in front of his present flame was vintage Steve Carrell. However, there was a level of sympathy that I had for Dan that I never would have had for Michael Scott. Plus, there were some unbelievably funny parts of this movie. When Dan's emotional basket case of a daughter yells " You are a murderer of love!" I thought I was going to need to be resuscitated in the theater. Also, when Dan finds himself in the shower fully clothed while trying to hide from his oldest daughter, I nearly lost it. What I loved most about Dan in Real Life was that it was clean, funny and extremely clever, not to mention that I was laughing non-stop for about an hour and a half. Overall, this was a great movie that didn't resort to crude humor to sell a few tickets. I loved that! Check it out if you haven't had the chance to see it yet.

Saw it too. Loved it. The murderer of love was the best line of the movie. Worth buying.
