buna ziua, fetele buna

Four years ago this month, I started an adventure of a lifetime. I set out for Romania, with 9 of the most amazing girls I have ever met, to try our version of making the world a tad bit better.

As I've been reading through my journal and all the experiences we had, I've laughed and cried at all the memories we made. Most of all, I've been thinking about those dear little children we cared for. Several have passed away since we left Romania, and so much of that sad fact is pure happiness because they are now out of the pain and loneliness.
But what darlings! I'll forever be grateful for the precious things those sweet spirits taught me. I think I went to Romania hoping to teach and love and help. I didn't realize that those little orphans would teach me more, love me more, and help me more than anyone ever could.
"And I said unto him; I know that he loveth his children; nevertheless, I do not know the meaning of all things."

Beautiful, Melis. May 1st I couldn't help thinking to myself "Wow! 4 years ago today I was in Romania"... it seems to recent sometimes and yet so long ago.
