It's Official!

On Friday we received a letter in the mail from Dartmouth Medical School. It reads as follows:

Dear Rob,
Congratulations! It is a pleasure to inform you that because of your academic and personal success and your potential for continued excellence, the Dartmouth Medical School Admissions Committee has accepted your application for admission and approved a position for you in the 2008 entering class of the Dartmouth M.D. program. As you may be aware, Dartmouth Medical School has received over 5,300 applications annually in recent years. Your admission, therefore, represents an achievement in which you can take special pride. You have the opportunity to join an especially exciting community of scholars and citizens this August in Hanover.
We are thrilled and feel extremely blessed to have found out so soon and to have such a wonderful opportunity. Rob went to Hanover in January for his interview and fell in love with the town and the school and everything else he was able to be a part of. We've known for a while that if he was accepted to Dartmouth, we wouldn't pass up the opportunity. Melissa is excited/nervous/relieved/ready/sad to make this move. Rob is just plain excited. The only problem is that neither of us own penny loafers or rugby sweaters, but we still think we'll manage to fit in with the Ivy Leaguers. (hopefully!)
So come visit us in Hanover, New Hampshire! We hear it's gorgeous... We'll take a trip to the Maine Coast, catch a Red Sox game in Boston, see some church history sights, enjoy the beautiful East Coast fall leaves, visit a cute niece/nephew in PA (only 6 hours and 14 minutes away from Doylestown!!!), and then show you the greatest time of your lives!
It's amazing how you can feel such peace and comfort when you make such big decisions... We're so grateful for that!!
We also want to express sincere THANKS to all of you for your support and prayers on our behalf during the application process. We are overwhelmed with gratitude to have such great friends and family. We love you all!!
Dartmouth here we come!!!!

Hey congrats! Man, that is huge. Rob must be such a hard worker to get into a great school like that! I'm sure it's nice now to at least know where you're moving to. Well now that it's final, we really do have to get together! Call me sometime and we'll figure it out. CONGRATS AGAIN!

Congratulations! That is so great. We lived in Boston for six years. Here is my must-see East Coast list:

*The Ben & Jerry ice cream factory in Burlington, VT
*Camp Joseph
*Portsmouth, Maine
*Lexington & Concord, MA
*Freedom Trail in Boston
*The Helmand (Afghani restaurant in Cambridge, MA. Hands-down my favorite place to eat ever)

It's beautiful up there. Enjoy the next step of your lives!

I am surprised that Christie did not mention the Nathanal Hawthorne home. I know she has fond memories of her visit there. OK, maybe not fond... but ones she will never forget! :)
