it has it's advantages

Being enormously huge (pregnant) during the holidays has its disadvantages. Mainly it is incredibly frustrating to have this adorable little niece begging me to snuggle with her, yet, my own tummy gets in the way and I don't think she's too comfortable on my lap these days. Same goes for Rob... this tummy just keeps getting in the way. Another disadvantage arose on Thanksgiving Day as we sat around that table full of delightful food. Two bites of mashed potatoes, one bite of turkey, three bites of stuffing, a nibble of sweet potatoes... stuffed. Notice there was no pumpkin pie listed. There just wasn't enough room for my baby and the pie in my enormously huge (pregnant) belly. Sigh. Final disadvantage... I've got one word for you: Kankles.
However, I'm pretty sure the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
Like the extra layer(s) of fat on my body to help keep me warm in 14 degree weather.
And the nice people on Black Friday who feel sorry for the enormously huge (pregnant) lady so they let me cut in line. Subconsciously it's also nice to know that the large amounts of weight gained between each weekly doctor's appointment is solely due to that extra winter coat that everyone puts on this time of year, rather than that 3rd bite of stuffing. And don't forget how great it will be to easily (right?!?) lose that extra winter coat in a matter of days after the baby arrives! Another advantage to being enormously huge (pregnant) during the holidays is the low heat bill: I sleep with the heat turned OFF during this 14 degree weather and the windows OPEN. Rob doesn't complain too much, but I do try and make sure he's still breathing periodically throughout the night... because that's the thing about hypothermia... you never know when cold is too cold. Also, being enormously huge (pregnant) during this holiday season is great because every year after this year, I'll be able to look back at the Christmas Card and think, "Man do I look good now!" Because let's face it... It can only get better from here. But I'd have to say that the best advantage to being enormously huge (pregnant) during the holidays was just getting to relax and spend time with my wonderful husband, my cute sister, and her darling family.

Melissa, you're adoreable. Are you planning on nursing? It doesn't work this way for everyone, but when I nurse most of the baby weight melts off within 4 or 5 months. I totally remember the small appetite thing... where I had to eat little bits all the time, but could never eat a real meal. Then I had my baby and felt like I was always hungry for a month! Funny how that work, ehh? I'm glad you got to go see family and your trip went well. I can't wait to see your cute baby!

I lost the baby weight in about 10 days (the first time only--don't make me talk about the second round). You can too! I nursed, barely ate (too tired, everything tasted like metal) and barely slept. It worked out perfectly.

Also, it must be better to be huge (pregnant) in 14 degree weather than 114 degree weather, right? You look adorable...Zoey too, of course.
